A better way to search the entire web

PAontheweb.com would like to introduce you to the latest way to search the web at LubyG.com. This is just the beginning. More relevant search results is the goal of Google and PAontheweb under the new name LubyG (making the web slicker). Google Labs has brought about Google Co-op a new interface that allows us to create unique searches using the best of Google technology and the best of Co-operative input. Unlike Site Flavored search from Google which is an automated system that learns over time, LubyG allows input from the user. Right now we’re only selecting a limited few to colaborate with us. Soon, we hope to open a second grand experiment that allows everyone to participate under LetUsBeYourGuide.com.

Try it and see if your results are more relevant. It searches not only Google but MSN, Yahoo, Ask and others for better results.

Maps

Everyone wants Pennsylvania Maps. There are tons that you can find on Google and other Search engines. Our favorite map system is Google Maps and you can find a link to it here. Once inside Google Maps you can select various options. For example, you can see a satellite view, a road map view or a hybrid view that gives you a mix of the two. In addition, you can get driving directions in a faster and easier to use format than Mapquest. It all depends on what you like. Soooo, if you’re looking for maps, try this link and click Google Maps.

Other Directories

Yes, we own other directories and plan to open more. We currently have PA B&B a Pennsylvania Bed & Breakfast directory that is independent of PAontheweb.com. We also opened PAMortgagebrokers.net to help you find Mortgage Brokers and Real Estate Agents in Pennsylvania by location. One of our favorites is GolfPA.net a directory dedicated to Pennsylvania Golf lovers.

In addition, we’ve opened EverythingOuterBanks.com for finding your favorite destination websites in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. We have plans to open in New York and many other states under various names.

Get the Google Pack and see the new Google Earth on your desktop

OK, this is way cool. You may have gone to Google and you may have seen the maps. This application lets you see the entire globe from space and zoom in on any place you want. You can tilt back and fly over your town or the entire world just like if you were in an airplane. In addition, the Google Pack includes a Google Bar that works in I.E. for spell checking in our website content management text editor. Once you download it make sure I.E. 7 is set to open all pop up windows in a new tab rather than a new window. Click the ABC in the Google Bar for spell checking the text editor.

Odd Todd

I learned about Odd Todd back in my military days. It was one of those links people were sending out to everyone they knew. All I can say is if you’re over 25 you’ll find it funny as all get out. Odd Todd is no longer unemployed from the looks of it. He has a thriving internet cartoon business. I have actually communicated with Todd by phone and email. Truth or Fiction Dot Com

We all get junk sent from friends claiming all kinds of things. Most of the time these emails are sent out from well meaning friends. One out of every 200 or so may be true. Before you forwarded an email you ought to check it against http://www.truthorfiction.com/. Below is my personal checklist regarding emails.

1. If an email claims that it is true, it is not. Just like the person you know who is always swearing something is true. You know they’re lying.
2. God does not believe in “Luck” and neither should you. Forwarding emails to you friends for Luck will just p!$$ them off and result in loss of respect and possibly the friendship.
3. Nobody in “name your country” needs help depositing funds through you.
4. Disney, Microsoft and other companies will never ask you to forward an email or reward you for forwarding emais.
5. Never forward an email that tells you to forward it. If you need to be told to forward a email how legitmate do you think it is?
6. When all else fails there is always a way to block emails from friends that won’t listen to your advice about not forwarding emails ;-)
