RNC Joe Lieberman
I want to first confess that my best friend is like Joe Lieberman. My best friend is a Democrat! Hard to believe but very true. I therefore have no doubt that Joe and John McCain are the very best of friends. Joe Lieberman really got my respect as a politician and human being during this speech. I know this act of his has angered many people that have strong emotions about the election. However, he is correct on many points. For example, when someone needs our assistance we never stop to ask if that person is a Democrat or Republican you simply go to their aid. For all the anger and rhetoric we do need to remember we are one nation. When November has come and gone we will no longer be wondering if our friends, neighbors and co-workers are Democrat or Republican. This election is too important to let political parties get in the way. Joe is correct that these times are too perilous to elect a man just because he is a good speaker, young and charismatic. These are times that call for John McCain because he has proved he will work with Democrats. That is the one thing that angered Republicans and even me at times. However, John was trying his best to do the right thing for the country, to break gridlock and get something done.
